Use Cut on the tree here, enter the gym, and dispatch his Voltorb, Pikachu, and Raichu however you choose, though, again, a Grass-type will be useful in the absence of any real Ground-type power

The more mundane reason behind flying types is because of the Fly HM - which the options are already listed. Gyarados, Charizard, Dragonite are the big 3 for that role. Already mentioned the problem with Gyarados. Will also point out that Physical-special split has yet to occur for FireRed, so no Waterfall nuke.
Boards. Pokemon Yellow Version: Special Pikachu Edition. Charizard. It_th3_cl0wn 14 years ago #1. On the pokedex Charizard is listed as a fire/flying type. I don't think he can, but I was wondering if charizard can learn fly. Also was wondering if he can learn it in Red. I haven't played in a while , and I was wondering because it will make my
Charizard can use Flamethrower, Fly/Wing Attack and Slash as a good moveset. The last slot you can fill with whatever you want, maybe Dragon Rage for damage unaffected by RNG. Dragon Claw's good, but the TM required is in Victory Road, so you can use that pretty late.
Cut can be obtained by the caption of S.S. Anne in Vermilion city after recieving the S.S Ticket from a guy named Bill in a house above the Nugget Bridge in Cerulean City. After obtaining the ticket, you can travel to Vermilion City and enter the S.S. Anne ship.
The person in there will give you Fly. Can Charizard learn fly in fire red? Although this makes it all the more versatile, it also opens Charizard up to an all new list of weaknesses. Note that Charizard can actually learn HM 02 - Fly in Pokemon Yellow (and Stadium), but not in Blue/Red.
>Charizard was unable to learn Fly through HM02 in Red and Blue. This was changed starting with Yellow, making it possible to still get a Charizard with Fly in the original games by trading one from a later version. Source: Bulbapedia/ Charizard ___ Maybe it was just a mistake on their part. I mean, Red & Blue were their FIRST games. They were
From Charizard not able to learn Fly and Moltres' burning wings, here are 10 unanswered questions about the Flying-type. Just flapping wings to create fire seems a little iffy, and there has
Fire Blast because it's stronger than Flamethrower, it gets STAB, and Charizard is better at special attacks like Flamethrower and Fire Blast than physical attacks like Dig. Charizard has 7 more in Attack than in Special so Dig will actually do a lot. And when thinking about it Fire Blast is really only a 20 base damage difference from
Notes: Best of the non legendary bird types, can learn fly, great STAB moves. Immune to ground and ghost, strong against grass and bug. Get quite late in the game but comes at a fairly high level. Fire Red Team: Charizard, Vileplume, Kabutops, Jolteon, Snorlax, and Nidoking. Charizard - Slash - Flamethrower - Fly

ThunderPunch can be used as the first move of a Pokémon Contest combination, causing Fire Punch and Ice Punch to score double the normal appeal if used in the next turn. It can also be used to finish a combination, with the user gaining 4 bonus appeal points if Charge, Fire Punch, or Ice Punch was used in the previous turn. Generation VI onwards
Charizard Ability: blaze Fly, flamethrower, dragon claw, steel wing . Personal favorite of mine and covers fighting and grass weakness. Fly to get around on and a strong flying type move for Charizard, flamethrower for a strong fire type move plus has a 10% chance to burn, and dragon claw and steel wing for move diversity. Primeape:
